Greetings and Welcome Back!

I know we've been back for a while now, but this is the first time I've had the opportunity to introduce myself to the entire community.  My name is Alex Grizzle and I am your Panhellenic President for 2013.  I am thrilled and honored to be serving you all in this capacity.  We started off the year on a great foot with a wonderfully successful recruitment and welcomed 689 new women to the Panhellenic community.  Shortly thereafter, we officially transitioned our new executive council and, if I may speak on their behalf, we are all very excited to see what the year has in store.  Finally, in early February, we attended the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Aside from getting to know each other a lot better, we also walked away from the conference with SEVEN awards!

  • Spotlight Panhellenic Leader

    Leigh Mathewes, Kappa Kappa Gamma

Leigh Mathewes, one of our newest members, and Kappa Kappa Gamma legacy, has positively impacted our chapter by initiating an ‘alumna blog’ to keep Zeta Mu’s past alumna updated with the most recent news in our chapter. This is a great way to keep sisters connected after graduation as well as a way to network with Virginia Tech Kappa Kappa Gamma alumna.

Leigh writes, “Through this blog we wish to accomplish just one goal – to connect both active sisters and alumnae of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Chapter at Virginia Tech. We know sisters everywhere are doing amazing things, and we want to create an opportunity for all of us to share our wonderful experiences.”

Leigh has taken initiative to develop a fun and updated communication system between past and present Kappa Kappa Gamma women, which are qualities of a future Panhellenic leader. Several active sisters are writing for this blog, and including stories and past photos from mothers, and other alumna.

You can access her blog here to learn about our sisters and what they’re doing: http://zmkappakonnection.wordpress.com/

  • Sister of the Month

    Carly Kuchova, Chi Omega

Carly Kuchova, Chi Omega’s new new-member educator, is a constant positive and uplifting sister and friend to anyone in need. She has the ability to help people in the worst situations possible find even the smallest bright side, and she never asks for anything in return. She is a wonderful representation of what it means to be a Chi Omega woman, as well as a member of the Panhellenic community in general. She is smart, generous, and poised, and is not only able to manage her course load effectively, but her hectic extracurricular life as well.

Carly manages to make everyone she meets fall in love with her warm personality and optimistic nature, and she is the true definition of what “sisterhood” should mean.

She brings a wealth of great things to the community, and above all is an amazing sister to her chapter!

    S’MORE Gamma Phi Beta

    2nd Annual Crescent Classic

Gamma Phi Beta held their second annual Crescent Classic on September 24th - 26th. The first day was Camp Gamma Phi located in the Oak Lane Fishbowl. During the events the teams competed in sleeping bag relay races, s’mores tower building, a throwing contest, and tent pitching. The first day was also a Benny’s percentage day so teams got to enjoy huge slices of pizza all day! On the second day of events we had an new event called Gamma Phi Live. Teams were given a topic such as Hunger Games in ABP, Say Yes to the Dress, and the Freshman Fifteen. They had to make up a funny skit about it. The last day was the Moonball tournament. The teams competed against each other in a volleyball tournament at night with twinkle lights and glow in the dark volleyballs! Our second Crescent Classic was such a success. Thanks to all the team that participated!
