  • Spotlight Panhellenic Leader

    Katherine

    Katherine

As VP Marketing of the Panhellenic Executive Council, Katherine has gone above and beyond her duties. She has worked extremely hard to revamp the Panhellenic website as well as spent much of her summer coming up with designs for the marketing package for recruitment. The marketing package includes shirts, cups, pens, pins, tablerunners, and more all with the panhellenic logo and a Go Greek theme! This is an amazing thing for our community because now we will have so many new girls coming through recruitment to better our Panhellenic Community. Katherine also worked in the Greek Office this summer as their Summer Leadership Employment Program representative.  She designed materials to promote Greek life during orientation, and served as a representative of Panhellenic throughout the summer months.

Katherine is an English and Communication major and is a member of Sigma Tau Delta, English Honors fraternity. Not only has she proven that she is a leader within the Greek community, but she is also involved within the University community. She was a orientation leader this past summer and was a homecoming candidate for her sorority this year. Katherine is a Linkous Lady mentor for children at Gilbert Linkous Elementary school, a member of student conduct committee, a Hokie Horizons Peer Mentor, and a member of PRSSA.  She has participated in Greeks Going Green, Relay for Life, and The Big Event and is also a member of Order of Omega.

Thank you for all that you do for our community Katherine!

  • Sister of the Month

    Courtney Jones, Delta Gamma

Courtney has been an involved and committed member of Delta Gamma since joining in January of 2009. She always has ideas to contribute to the chapter and brings a positive attitude to the table. This past month, Courtney took charge of choreographing and pulling together Delta Gamma’s Mock Rock Dance. She started weeks in advance and dedicated many nights to holding practice at the House, despite her heavy course load and High Tech Practices.

Courtney helped lead Delta Gamma to a victory at Alpha Chi Omega’s Mock Rock by organizing practices, choreographing most of our skit, making banners, and thinking up a theme. She spent hours buying things to make costumes, running practices, and pretty much coordinating the whole thing.  She couldn’t even participate because of Dance Team Practice but still put in so much time. It was awesome for her to step up for our chapter and help us win. She spent hours each day for over two weeks perfecting this for us when she didn’t even have to. To see her level of enthusiasm and commitment in a senior was refreshing, and it inspired many other seniors to step up and help out as well.

For this, we are ALL very thankful and happy to have won and not only to have done something for our sorority, but for a philanthropy as well!

    Pi Beta Phi

This month the ladies of Pi Beta Phi celebrated our 30th anniversary as a chapter at Virginia Tech. At the beginning of the month, we celebrated with the charter members and many other alumni for a weekend of fun. We celebrated the meaning of sisterhood with a bar crawl for the women, dinner with the past and present of Pi Phi and Sunday brunch. Beyond that, we were happy to appoint our new executive board for 2012! We look forward to see what big things they can do for our chapter in the upcoming year.
